This morning we woke up to that foggy, thick winter light that I like so much. It’s one of the few things that make the long cold winters bearable. We really haven’t had much of it this winter. Anyway, I took my time getting to work and made a few photographs.

We’ve had a really  mild winter so far. Today we got a little snow. There is nothing like the light in town during and shortly after snowfall (I’ve missed it). Anyway, I was happy to get out for a bit. I’m not convinced the photographs are very good, but I had a good time.

So, I’m taking a class (sitting in really) this semester. It’s called Computer Art. Basically it’s an introduction to Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design. Most of the Photoshop stuff is review, but I know very little about In Design and Illustrator. Anyway, our second assignment was to take digital photographs this week that illustrated the basic principles of design. It was fun making photographs while consciously thinking about design (I don’t usually work this way). Here are some of the better photographs from the week.

On Saturday I drove out to Mud Lake to look for birds (pretty quiet) and make some photographs. Mud Lake is completely frozen, which is no surprise. There is also no snow at all on the ice, which is pretty cool. I walked around on the lake for a bit and made some pretty fun abstract compositions.
