Earlier this week I spent a couple of days with Kevin at Scout Camp in Island Park. I was the photography merit badge counselor. I managed to sneak away a couple of evenings to make photographs.

We’ve been finding big (almost 1.5 inches) striped beetles on our screen windows many summer mornings. The internet told me they’re called Ten-lined June Beetles and I think they’re kind of pretty. Here is one I found on our window this morning.

I pass through Hamer a few times a year (including this evening) on my way to Camas NWR. It seems a lonely town.
